TL;DR
- Building a journey from a goal is table stakes now, and so is a human approval step. The real gap is whether the journey sees service and sales signals before it sends.
- Most journey tools only act on marketing’s own data. A customer with an open complaint can still get a cheerful upsell the next morning.
- Lyzr comes out ahead on our criteria. It runs prebuilt agents for marketing (Skott), service (Jeff) and sales (Jazon), plus custom agents from Agent Studio, on the CRM and helpdesk you already have, even in your own cloud.
- Salesforce and Adobe suit enterprises already inside their clouds. Braze, Klaviyo, Bloomreach and Iterable are sharp B2C engines with narrower reach.
- Salesforce agreed to acquire Braze on October 20, 2026, so ask Braze about roadmap and contract terms.
- Before buying, open a support ticket as a test customer and trigger a promo. See whether anything pauses.
A customer’s new espresso machine arrives with a cracked water tank. On Monday she opens a support chat, gets a replacement promised and logs off, mildly annoyed. On Tuesday, the post-purchase journey asks her to rate the machine. On Thursday, a cross-sell agent notices her browsing descaling tablets and offers 15% off a milk frother.
Every message was personalized and correct inside the tool that sent it. The journey was still wrong, because it never saw the support chat.

That is the real test for AI-powered customer journey automation in 2026. Nearly every platform can draft a journey from a prompt. Far fewer can act on what service learned an hour ago. Here are seven worth a shortlist, and where each one’s view of the customer runs out.
Journeys are going autonomous. The data behind them isn’t.
Gartner predicts that by 2028, 60% of brands will use agentic AI for one-to-one interactions, redefining customer journeys along the way. Its advice to marketers: track customer journey changes weekly.
Budgets are drifting the other way. Gartner’s 2026 CMO Spend Survey found loyalty and retention spend fell 29% since 2024, to under 15% of media spend. Our read: post-purchase is where autonomous journeys pay back fastest and embarrass a brand fastest, because that is where marketing collides with service.
Customers are wary, too. In Braze’s 2026 Customer Engagement Review, 27% of consumers refused to share any data with AI agents. In a March 2026 Gartner survey, half of US consumers said they prefer brands that avoid GenAI in consumer-facing content. An agent that upsells someone mid-complaint proves them right.

| Criterion | Why it matters here |
| Goal to journey: builds a journey from a business goal | Cuts setup time |
| Reach beyond marketing: service and sales steps | The cracked-tank problem lives here |
| Custom agents for your own rules | Refund and suppression logic aren’t templates |
| Existing stack: runs on your current CRM, helpdesk and data | Migrations eat quarters |
| Human approval before anything reaches a customer | One tone-deaf send undoes months of goodwill |
| Deployment control: private cloud or on-prem | Profiles often carry residency rules |

Two columns are a wash: every platform builds from a goal and lets a person approve before launch. The shortlist is decided by reach beyond marketing, stack fit and deployment control. If your helpdesk, commerce data and CRM live in different places, those three columns pick your winner.
The seven platforms, reviewed
1. Lyzr: Best for journeys that cross marketing, service and sales
Lyzr doesn’t move the journey into a new marketing cloud. It puts agents above the tools you already run, sharing one view of the customer. Skott runs marketing objectives, Jeff coordinates 18 service agents across chat, email, voice and tickets, and Jazon takes over when a journey turns into a sales or renewal conversation.
Rules unique to you, such as suppression tied to open tickets, become custom agents in Agent Studio, chained with orchestration. As SiliconANGLE reported in February 2026, Lyzr’s app builder starts from 1,000-plus blueprints and can stress-test agents with up to 10,000 simulated runs.
| What you get | Why it matters |
| Prebuilt agents for marketing, service and sales | One journey, three departments, no handoff gap |
| Connectors for Salesforce, Zendesk, ServiceNow and more | Your CRM and helpdesk stay the source of truth |
| Private cloud or on-prem deployment | Customer data never has to leave your environment |
Best fit: brands whose marketing, service and commerce data sit in different systems.
Before choosing: Lyzr orchestrates rather than sends, so it works alongside your email, SMS or push provider instead of replacing it.
2. Salesforce Agentforce Marketing: Best when the customer record already lives in Salesforce
Salesforce’s Campaign Agent, generally available in Marketing Cloud Next since October 2026, turns a marketer-defined goal into audiences, content, journeys and channels, then routes each customer by their responses. Personalized Paths, which tailor journey paths to each customer from real-time signals, reached GA the same month. Because Service Cloud shares the platform, a journey can draw on case data without a separate integration.
| Strength | Consideration |
| Marketing, service and sales agents on one data layer | Deepest when everything runs on Data 360 |
| Marketers approve plans before Campaign Agent launches | Most Dreamforce 2026 features are only weeks into GA |
| Planned Braze acquisition adds a real-time engine | Close is expected in Salesforce’s fiscal 2028 |
Best fit: enterprises standardized on Sales, Service and Marketing Cloud.
Before choosing: if service runs on Zendesk or ServiceNow, budget for the data plumbing. See Lyzr vs Agentforce.
3. Adobe Journey Optimizer: Best for enterprise journeys at very large scale
Adobe’s Journey Agent builds, analyzes and tunes journeys in natural language, and flags conflicts or anomalies across live and planned journeys. Above it, CX Enterprise Coworker, unveiled April 20, 2026, coordinates agents across Real-Time CDP, Journey Optimizer, Customer Journey Analytics, Marketo Engage and Target, built on MCP and A2A, with humans kept in the loop.
| Strength | Consideration |
| Conflict detection across running journeys | Service signals arrive only through your own integrations |
| Shared profile from Real-Time CDP | Agent jobs consume separately licensed AI credits |
| Open standards for third-party agents | Pays off mainly for existing Adobe customers |
Best fit: global brands already on Adobe Experience Platform.
Before choosing: map how support cases reach the profile. Adobe can’t act on what never arrives.
4. Braze: Best for real-time mobile and in-app journeys

Braze made BrazeAI Operator and Agent Console generally available on April 23, 2026. Operator drafts and debugs Canvas journeys from a prompt and presents every change for approval. Agent Console agents run inside a live Canvas as an Agent Step, deciding for one customer as they arrive. Decisioning Studio tests creative, timing and contact frequency per recipient, and Conversational Agents reply on WhatsApp, SMS, RCS and web.
| Strength | Consideration |
| Agents act mid-journey, per customer | Not a service desk; tickets live elsewhere |
| EU hosting for Decisioning Studio | AI spread across three products: Operator, Agent Console and Decisioning Studio |
| Strong mobile and in-app channels | Salesforce agreed to acquire Braze for about $5.66 billion |
Best fit: app-first consumer brands with high event volume.
Before choosing: ask how the roadmap and contract terms change once the Salesforce deal closes.
5. Klaviyo: Best for consumer brands that want marketing and service on one profile

Klaviyo is the rare B2C platform where service already feeds the journey. Composer builds campaigns and flows from a prompt, audits flows for drop-off and waits for your approval. Customer Agent handles order tracking, returns and other service questions, and Klaviyo says it resolves 65% of questions on its own. Since June, its conversations can write preferences and intent back to the customer profile in real time.
| Strength | Consideration |
| Service conversations update the marketing profile | Klaviyo is the CRM, so data has to live there |
| Low entry cost: $0.70 per Customer Agent conversation after 50 free | Built for ecommerce, light on B2B |
| Conversational Agent Builder for service skills | The builder launched in open beta in June |
Best fit: DTC and retail brands, especially on Shopify.
Before choosing: if most tickets live in another helpdesk, the advantage shrinks.
6. Bloomreach: Best for commerce journeys tied to product discovery
Bloomreach made its Loomi marketing agent generally available on June 2, 2026, turning one prompt into a full campaign workflow with segments, content and journeys that marketers review and approve before launch. The same Loomi layer runs site search and the Clarity shopping agent, so what a shopper searched for can shape the next message. Bloomreach says nearly half of its customers now use at least one agent or next-generation AI tool.
| Strength | Consideration |
| Journeys informed by search and merchandising data | Loomi Connect, for building your own agents, is still young |
| 13+ channels from one platform | Strongest in retail and ecommerce |
| Databricks CustomerLake integration | Service sits outside the platform |
Best fit: retailers whose product catalog and site search drive most journeys.
Before choosing: confirm how returns and complaints reach Loomi before win-back flows run on autopilot.
7. Iterable: Best for lean lifecycle teams that need more output

Iterable launched Nova Agent in April 2026 to build, audit, personalize and optimize campaigns from live signals, with Review, Analytics and Dynamic Content agents beside it. Nova proposes changes and a marketer saves them. Babylist says offloading campaign setup and QA reclaimed 50% of its CRM bandwidth.
| Strength | Consideration |
| Review agent catches journey errors before launch | No service or sales agents |
| Goal-driven Command Center | Quote-only pricing, with AI bundled into the platform |
| MCP server for outside AI tools | Fewer options for building your own agents |
Best fit: mid-market consumer apps with small CRM teams.
Before choosing: decide which system carries service context into Iterable.
Pick by the shape of your stack
| If this sounds like you | Start with |
| Marketing, service and CRM sit on different vendors | Lyzr |
| Everything already runs on Salesforce | Agentforce Marketing |
| You’re on Adobe Experience Platform at global scale | Adobe Journey Optimizer |
| Your journeys live mostly in an app | Braze |
| You’re a DTC brand wanting service in the same tool | Klaviyo |
| Search and merchandising drive your revenue | Bloomreach |
| A tiny CRM team needs to ship more | Iterable |
Whatever you shortlist, run the cracked-tank test in a sandbox: open a ticket as a test customer, then drop them into a review-request journey. A good platform pauses. A weak one sends on schedule, politely.

Automate journeys across teams with Lyzr Agent Studio
Here is the espresso machine story rebuilt in Lyzr Agent Studio.
On Monday, Jeff’s support agent logs the cracked tank and writes the case to a shared knowledge base. A custom journey-guard agent checks every outbound message against open tickets and sentiment. The workflow holds Tuesday’s review request until the replacement arrives and the ticket closes. Then Skott asks whether the new machine works, and only after that, for the review. The frother offer waits a week. For a business account, the same signal reaches Jazon as a renewal risk.
Three building blocks make that work:
| Building block | What it does in the journey |
| Prebuilt agents: Skott, Jeff, Jazon | Run the marketing, service and sales work out of the box |
| Custom agents from Agent Studio | Apply your rules: suppression, refunds, VIP handling, consent |
| Workflows with human approval | Fix the order of steps and decide where a person signs off |
She gets one brand that remembers her. You get an audit trail of which agent did what.

FAQs
A classic builder follows the branches you drew. An AI-driven one picks the next step, channel and timing per customer from live signals, within limits you set.
Usually not. If your sending engine works, add an orchestration layer that feeds it service and CRM context. Replace it only if it can’t accept outside signals.
Grant it per segment. Let agents run timing and content on proven flows, and keep human approval on discounts, regulated messages and anyone with an open complaint.
