TL;DR

  • Most teams buy one agent for marketing and another for sales. The handoff between them is where buyers get double-touched and value leaks.
  • Judge platforms on CRM fit, consent checks, human approval and deployment control, not on who writes the best email.
  • Lyzr covers the whole funnel with its prebuilt Skott and Jazon agents plus custom agents, on any CRM and in your own cloud.
  • Salesforce Agentforce and HubSpot suit teams already standardized on their CRMs. Adobe leans marketing, and Outreach leans sales.
  • Before you sign, run five tests, including a double-touch test and a price check at full database volume.

At 11:40 on a Tuesday night, a VP of Operations downloads your pricing guide. Two minutes later, a marketing nurture agent sends her a welcome email. At 7:15 the next morning, an SDR agent emails her about “noticing your team is hiring.” At 9:00, her account rep, who has seen neither email, calls to introduce himself. Three touches, three tones, one mildly irritated buyer.

Nothing in that sequence broke here. Every agent did exactly what it was configured to do. Marketing bought one agent, sales bought another, and nobody bought the handoff.

That handoff is what to test when you compare platforms for AI agents in sales and marketing automation. Any agent can draft an email now. The differences show up in whether agents share one view of the buyer, check consent before sending, wait for a human where it counts and write back to the CRM. Here are five worth a shortlist, and where each stops being the right answer.

Two departments, one buyer, too many agents

Agents are not scarce. Gartner expects them to outnumber human sellers ten to one by 2028, yet predicts fewer than 40% of sellers will say agents improved their productivity. Marketing looks similar: 81% of martech leaders were piloting or had implemented AI agents by mid-2025, but Gartner’s 2026 CMO Spend Survey found only 30% of CMOs report fully developed AI readiness, despite putting 15.3% of their budget into AI.

Reps spend 40% of their week selling, according to Salesforce’s 2026 State of Sales report, and expect fully implemented agents to cut prospect research time by 34%.

So where does value leak? Our read: teams automate inside each department and leave the seam between them manual. 69% of B2B buyers still turn to a sales rep to validate AI-generated insights. If that rep arrives without the context marketing’s agents gathered, everything upstream was decoration.

Where should agents sit in your revenue cycle? Lyzr’s sales playbook maps the stages where agents earn their keep, and the ones where a rep should stay in charge. Get the sales playbook

How we judged them

Criterion Why it matters here
Funnel coverage: prebuilt marketing and sales agents The handoff works only if both sides connect
CRM fit: works with the CRM you run Switching CRMs to get an agent is a long, costly detour
Custom agents: a builder for your own workflows Your ICP and routing rules are not generic
Human approval before anything reaches a buyer One bad email under your domain undoes a hundred good ones
Deployment control: private cloud or on-prem Prospect data often carries residency rules

Based on public information through October 2026. Lyzr publishes this blog; we flag where others fit better.

Platform Marketing agents Sales agents Custom agent builder Works with your existing CRM Human approval before outreach Private cloud or on-prem
Lyzr ✓ ✓ ✓ ✓ ✓ ✓
Outreach ✗ ✓ ✓ ✓ ✓ ✗
HubSpot Agent Hub ✓ ✓ ✓ ✗ ✓ ✗
Salesforce Agentforce ✓ ✓ ✓ ! ✓ ✗
Adobe CX Enterprise ✓ ! ✓ ! ✓ !

Builders and approval steps are standard now. The real split is CRM fit: HubSpot’s agents run on HubSpot’s CRM, and most of Agentforce runs on Salesforce’s. If marketing and sales use different stacks, that column decides your shortlist.

The five platforms, reviewed

1. Lyzr: Best for one workflow from first touch to closed deal

Lyzr treats sales and marketing as one workflow, not two tools. Skott takes a marketing objective and runs agents for content, SEO and AEO, ABM briefs, email and paid audits. Jazon takes a revenue target, ranks accounts, drafts outreach, books meetings, flags deal risk and turns usage signals into renewal plays.

Both sit above your stack. Jazon connects to Salesforce, HubSpot, Outreach, Gong, ZoomInfo and LinkedIn Sales Navigator, and the CRM stays the source of truth. Whatever else your process needs, you build as a custom agent in Agent Studio and chain with orchestration.

What you get Why it matters
CAN-SPAM, GDPR and DNC checks before every send Compliance happens before the email, not after
Human approval on key decisions, every action logged Reps control what goes out under their name
AWS, Azure, GCP or on-prem Lyzr says 80% of its enterprise deployments choose private cloud

Lyzr lists Jazon as live at Okta and Integrity, and BMO as scaling governed agent adoption across a 500-plus person marketing org. One 90-person sales team saved each rep about an hour a week with a Lyzr first-meeting brief agent, more than two full-time roles of capacity a year.

Best fit: marketing and sales on different tools, or data that must stay in your cloud.

Before choosing: if one suite runs your whole funnel and its native agents cover the job, start there.

2. Salesforce Agentforce: Best when the pipeline already lives in Sales Cloud

Since completing its Qualified acquisition on April 1, 2026, Salesforce sells Piper, Qualified’s AI SDR, as a generally available Agentforce agent that qualifies inbound leads across your website and inbox. On September 11, 2026, it announced Hunter, an outbound agent that researches accounts, writes outreach and works deals over weeks and months; it stays in pilot until a planned November 2026 launch. For marketers, the Goals Agent lets teams set goals, budgets, guardrails and autonomy limits.

Strength Consideration
Job-ready inbound and outbound agents Hunter is built for Sales Cloud; Piper is deepest on Salesforce, with a lighter HubSpot version
Marketing and sales agents in one ecosystem Hunter is still in pilot
Grounded in Data 360 records Flex Credits run about $0.10 per action, so multi-step plays add up

Best fit: companies standardized on Sales Cloud and Marketing Cloud.

Before choosing: if marketing runs elsewhere, the handoff still needs a bridge. See Lyzr vs Agentforce.

3. HubSpot Agent Hub: Best for teams that want agents switched on, not built

Breeze Agents became Agent Hub, and Breeze Studio became Agent Builder, in July 2026. The Prospecting Agent monitors funding, hiring and technology-adoption signals, surfaces buying committees and drafts outreach, but nothing goes to a prospect until a rep reviews and approves it. At UNBOUND in September 2026, Campaign and Nurture agents entered public beta, and Agent Builder opened to third-party tools over MCP.

Strength Consideration
Outcome pricing: about $1 per qualified lead on prospecting Agents run on HubSpot’s CRM
Rep approval before any prospecting email Campaign and Nurture agents are in beta
Agents read native CRM data and context New pricing announced October 15, 2026

Best fit: mid-market teams running marketing and sales on HubSpot.

Before choosing: audit your CRM data first; HubSpot’s new Context Home score shows how complete it is.

4. Adobe CX Enterprise: Best for marketing at enterprise scale

At Summit on April 20, 2026, Adobe launched CX Enterprise, which replaces the Experience Cloud umbrella. Its Coworker takes a business goal, such as lifting cross-sell by three percent, and coordinates agents for audiences, journeys and experimentation on Adobe Experience Platform, which powers over one trillion experiences a year. For B2B, Adobe’s Account Qualification Agent evaluates new opportunities and engages buying-group members.

Strength Consideration
Deep audience and journey data Thin on sales-side agents
Marketing Agent GA in Microsoft 365 Copilot Pays off mainly for existing Adobe customers
Coworker runs on-prem or in cloud Pricing is not public

Best fit: large marketing teams already on Adobe’s data platform.

Before choosing: plan how qualified accounts reach sales, because that step lives outside Adobe.

5. Outreach: Best for sales execution on top of any CRM

Outreach Omni conversational agent and Agent Studio for AI-driven sales execution
5 Best Platforms for AI Agents in Sales and Marketing Automation   6

Outreach’s April 2026 release added Omni, a conversational agent in the app, Slack and mobile that answers deal questions and acts on them, plus Agent Studio for building agents from templates. Other agents run scheduled account research, brief reps before meetings and push suggested deal updates to Slack for reps to approve.

Strength Consideration
Strong research, prep and deal agents No marketing agents
Syncs with Salesforce, Dynamics 365 or HubSpot Metered AI credits, not publicly priced
MCP server for outside AI tools Agent Studio is months old

Best fit: teams already sequencing in Outreach.

Before choosing: you still need something upstream to carry marketing’s context over.

Five tests to run before you sign

  1. Double touch. Fill in a demo form as a contact already in an outbound sequence. Count the messages in 24 hours, and check they agree.
  1. Suppression. Add a contact to your do-not-contact list, then trigger the agent. It should stop before drafting.
  1. Write-back. After a call, the CRM should show the new stage, next step and what the agent changed.
  1. Approval dial. Ask for draft-only mode on new segments and autonomy on proven ones. All-or-nothing keeps you in pilot.
  1. Full-database bill. Price a year of every contact the agent will touch, not your 500-contact pilot. Per-lead, per-action and per-seat models diverge fast.

Automate the sales and marketing handoff with Lyzr Agent Studio

Here is the opening scenario rebuilt in Lyzr Agent Studio. Skott picks up the download and sends one nurture email. A custom handoff agent, built on your rules, checks for active sequences and scores intent. A DAG workflow fixes the order: consent check, one owner per contact, then outreach. Jazon steps in only when intent crosses your threshold, drafts the first touch with the account brief and waits for the rep’s approval.

At 9:00, the rep calls knowing everything both agents learned, and the CRM shows who did what. One buyer, one conversation.

Same pattern, any workflow: prebuilt agents for shared work, custom agents for your rules, and a human sign-off before anything reaches a buyer.

Explore Lyzr Agent Studio to build your first sales and marketing workflow, or book a demo to map one on your own stack.

FAQs

Automation follows rules you wrote: if a lead does X, send Y. Agents choose the next step within limits you set and act across systems.

Not necessarily, but their agents must share context and one owner per contact. If teams use different tools, orchestrate above both instead of forcing a migration.

They replace research and first drafts. Objections, nuance and trust still need a person, so we’d point SDRs at higher-intent accounts.
